GroMe ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, especially children and teenagers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the GroMe application ("App").
2. COPPA Compliance
GroMe is designed for teenagers aged 12-18. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and take extra precautions for users under 13:
- Users under 13 must have parental consent before using the App
- We collect minimal information necessary for the App to function
- Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's data at any time
- We do not sell or share children's personal information with third parties
3. Information We Collect
Information Stored Locally (On Your Device)
- Teen profile name and age confirmation
- Challenge progress and completion data
- Mindset points and achievements
- Goal progress and milestones
- Vault balance and transaction history
- App preferences and settings
Important: The majority of your data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not upload this data to external servers.
Information Sent to Our Server
- Parent email address (optional) - used solely for sending welcome emails and weekly progress reports
- Unlock code verification - codes are checked against our database to validate purchases
- Withdrawal request notifications - parent email is used to notify about teen withdrawal requests
Information Collected by Third Parties
- Stripe - processes payments for unlock code purchases. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to payment data
- Resend - delivers emails on our behalf. Only the parent's email address is shared
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the educational service
- Verify unlock code purchases
- Send welcome emails and weekly progress reports to parents (when opted in)
- Notify parents of withdrawal requests
5. Data Storage and Security
- User progress data is stored locally on the device and is not transmitted to our servers
- Unlock codes are stored securely in our database
- All server communications use HTTPS encryption
- We do not use cookies or tracking technologies within the App
6. What We Do NOT Do
- We do not sell personal information to third parties
- We do not display advertisements
- We do not use behavioural tracking or analytics profiling
- We do not include social media features or user-to-user communication
- We do not collect location data
- We do not access the device camera, microphone, or contacts
7. Parental Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Review their child's data through the Parent Zone in the App
- Delete all data through Settings > Data > Delete Account
- Opt out of email communications at any time
- Control rewards and withdrawal approvals
8. Data Deletion
Users can delete all their data at any time through Settings > Data > Delete Account within the App. This permanently removes all locally stored data including profiles, progress, points, and transaction history.
9. Regional Availability
GroMe is available worldwide via grome.live. The App is a web-based application accessible on any device with a modern browser, including iPhone, Android, iPad, and desktop. We comply with applicable data protection laws in the regions where we operate.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes through the App or via email to registered parents.
